This is a notice I received in email from a group member in a Long Beach French bulldog club I belong to:
This past weekend I was involved in helping to get a very sad little Frenchie from the Long Beach shelter into rescue. The reason I am contacting you is this: Rescue tells me they have picked up several Frenchies within a 20 mile radius of Long Beach in recent months that all a) look similar in type and b) have clearly been "bred and discarded" by someone. Could you get the word out on you site or even better pass this along to your members? I am looking for anyone who bought or considered buying a fawn or other "American type" French Bulldog in the past year or so in the greater Long Beach area who thinks the person involved was sketchy, overbreeding, not taking care of their dogs, etc. Here is a link to rescue, if you scroll down you will see the dog in question, who is now known as Gerty. Perhaps someone will recognize her as being at a house or kennel they visited. I would devote much of my time to bringing whoever did this to justice.

This is a terrible reminder that we all need to educate people about how to go about purchasing a puppy. Please tell anyone who asks you they should ask a lot of questions, ask to see the mother of the puppies, and ask if the breeder shows their dogs in AKC shows. Anything that looks odd or sounds too good to be true probably is.
I hope you can forward this along in whatever form you see fit.
I really
think someone will recognize Gerty and help us get to the bottom of this. I hope to hear from you soon.
